ALINDY on Kirkus Reviews
This past weekend, my upcoming novel Annie LeBlanc Is Not Dead Yet was reviewed by Kirkus!
The folks at Kirkus had some really lovely things to say, which has left me in a bit of a haze (an excited one, I promise). Here are some of the highlights:
“Wilson’s and Ryan’s queerness is thoughtfully written, and the romantic relationships are tender and believable.”
“A sweet story that combines realistic relationships with an intriguing, fantastical premise."
And then of course, there’s my favourite line of all: “The story is fresh and well executed, simultaneously feeling both perfectly convincing and truly bizarre.”
With all of my writing, I set out to create something silly and weird, but first and foremost there has to be glimmers of realism there. The weirdness means nothing if people can’t see themselves in it; so to have this book be called “perfectly convincing and truly bizarre” is quite literally a dream come true. That’s all I ever really want from my writing.
So a great big thanks goes to the team at Kirkus for giving this book a look - I’m overjoyed to have the opportunity, much less at my book having been so understood.
